Eranthis hyemalis is a plant found in Europe, which belongs to the family Ranunculaceae, the buttercup family. The plant is small, but it has large, yellow, cup-shaped flowers. It is commonly known as Winter Aconite or Wolf's Bane. This plant grows from a tuber and has a low habit. All parts of the plant are poisonous when consumed by humans.

Native to woodlands, this plant is used in gardening as a groundcover, and is valued for the fact that the bright green foliage and yellow flowers appear extremely early in the spring.
