A perpetual motion machine is a machine that supposedly produces more energy than it consumes. Although many claims for the existence and design of such machines have been made, these claims are regarded as pseudoscience by the scientific community, because they have not proven to be reproducible nor to stand up to serious scrutiny. A perpetual motion machine with net energy output would violate the law of conservation of energy.
