Amlodipine/valsartan

Exforge is the brand name of an oral antihypertensive medication which combines two antihypertensive agents in a film-coated tablet. It contains amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and valsartan, an angiotensin-2 receptor antagonist (ARB or A2A). The patent is held by Novartis Pharmaceuticals. Novartis markets the drug, valsartan, as Diovan. The patent expires in 2012. Pfizer's patent on amlodipine expired in 2007. Until then it was marketed as Norvasc.

Exforge is available in different dose preparations: 5mg/160mg, 10mg/160mg,5mg/320mg and 10/320mg of amlodipine and valsartan respectively.
