Heart-type fatty acid binding protein (hFABP) is a small cytosolic protein that is present in cardiac tissue. See FABP3 for biochemical details.

It is a sensitive biomarker for myocardial infarction[1][2] and can be detected in the blood within one to three hours of the pain.[3]

A home test kit has been approved for use in the EU[4]
