Changing frequency (Programming)

The Radius P50 is a crystal controlled, 2 channel portable per the service manual, p/n 68P81068C60-A

There are 2 splits for the VHF model. H23 = 150.8-162 MHz, 1 watt H33/H43 = 136-174 MHZ. H33 = 2 watts, H43 = 5 watts.

It also helps to know if it has tone capability. If you open the battery cover and remove the battery, you should see a set of jumpers. This is how you set the CTCSS tone.

I was also able to find the RSS for the P-50 at this website:

http://www.ham.dmz.ro/motorola/p-50.php

My guess is that some of the P-50's were crystal controlled, but from what I've read, the later versions (with the DIP switch programmable PL) are RSS programmable.

With my GP-300 HT, I am able to program it for the ham bands. To do this, there is a little trick you must do with the RSS software. Hold down the <SHIFT> key when typing in the numbers of the frequency - but release the <SHIFT> key when entering the decimal point. For example, 146.850 MHz would be entered as !$^.*%)))). Now, I'm not 100% sure if this will work the same for the P-50, but you have a chance it will.

With all this said, I still have not been able to find any DATA+ (or BUS+) pin on the radio for programming.
