Mr. Zog's Sex Wax is a Carpinteria, California, brand of surfwax manufactured for use on surfboards. This wax is rubbed on the top surface or "deck" of a surfboard to allow traction and grip for the surfer.

Mr. Zog's Sex Wax was first produced by Fredrick Herzog III (Mr Zog) and chemist Nate Skinner in 1972. Hank Pitcher designed their original logo.

Due to the product name, promotional materials such as bumper stickers and t-shirts became extremely popular, even among those who had never ridden a surfboard. Their slogans, such as "The best for your stick", included innuendos of non-surfing uses. The materials confirmed their counterculture status by being banned from schools and amusement parks. Although it is not manufactured or marketed as a food product, Sex Wax is popularly used as chewing gum in some areas of the U.S. [1]

Different wax formulations are sold under the names: "Quick Humps", "Really Tacky", and "Navel Wax".

In addition to surfboard waxes, Mr. Zog also makes a snowboard wax which is applied to the bottom of a snowboard to reduce friction between the snowboard and the snow. Mr. Zog's Sex Wax For Snowboards® comes in two varieties--a "melt-on" application (available in three formulas for various snow conditions), and a "rub-on" application (available in one all-purpose formula suitable for most snow conditions).[2] [3]

Mr. Zog's Sex Wax has a formulation for drummers to put on their drumsticks for better grip in addition to a stick wax for better puck control on ice hockey sticks.

Mr. Zog's Sex Wax is also one of the most popular waxes among ice hockey players. The wax is applied by rubbing it on over the tape on the blade of the stick. This does two things, flattens the tape to allow a smoother shot, and also makes the blade of the stick stickier which helps hockey players control the puck for stick-handling, passing, and shooting purposes. Besides that, it is popular among some goaltenders to rub the wax on on the shaft of their stick to help them hold on to the stick when it is struck by hard shots, some in excess of 100 MPH.
