Quick Whole Grain Cereal

Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats (not quick oats)
1 cup rolled barley flakes
1 cup rolled wheat flakes

Pulse oats 3 or 4 times in a blender or food processor. Repeat with barley and wheat flakes. Stir the pulsed oats, barley and wheat together until evenly blended.

To cook:

  1. Bring 1 cup water and 1/8 teaspoon salt to a boil in a small saucepan.
  2. Stir in 1/2 cup cereal.
  3. Reduce heat slightly. Cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat; cover.
  5. Let sit until cereal is the desired consistency.
  6. Serve with milk and brown sugar or honey. Serves 1.
