A Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (abbreviated SMPS) is a spectrometer and can measure particles from 2.5 nm to 1000 nm[1]. They employ a continuous, fast-scanning technique to provide high-resolution measurements quickly and effectively. The particles that are investigated can be of biological or chemical nature. The spectrometer can be applied in situations like: air quality measurement indoors, vehicle exhaust pipes, research in bioaerosols, atmospheric studies, toxicology testing, etc.
