Tip for saving small seeds

Instant coffee jars can help to collect those little tiny seeds that always seem to be a pain in the butt. For instance (but not limited to) berries, mint, catnip, and even tomatoes and cucumbers.

Fill the jar x number of the way with the crushed fruit, including cuke hearts and tomatoes of choice. Then add enough water to cover. Let them sit for three days [with the lid firmly sealed] and every time you go past them, shake the crap out of them. After three days, Filter the solution through a coffee filter, and allow to dry for three more days. At the end of that time, Grind the remaining dry material between the palms of my hands over a news paper, and the seeds will fly.

After the coffee jar is emptied, wash it and make it ready for the next round or have it ready to dump the dry seeds into [uncovered] and put them in a warm dry place for further drying before replanting, or storing.

For catnip and mint place in the jar [uncovered] without water and allow it to dry, then grind it between your palms, over a newspaper, and place this back in the jar with water. After a couple of days the good seeds will sink and the debris will float on the top, skim off the debris, and strain the rest through a coffee filter, put it back in the cleaned jar for further drying.
