Shift work sleep disorder (SWSD) is a circadian rhythm sleep disorder which affects people who change their work or sleep schedules frequently or who work longterm on other than day hours.
Such recurrent interruption of sleep patterns may result in insomnia and/or excessive sleepiness.
A 2007 study lead by the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) showed that shiftwork can induce cancer.[1]
