Industrial disease is a term used to describe an ailment or injury resulting from long term exposure to an occupational hazard, such as a noxious substance. For example, the Black Lung Disease is an ailment that affects coal miners after working for long periods of time around coal dust.
There are many different types of industrial disease:
- Asbestosis
- Occupational asthma
- Dermatitis
- Chemical poisoning
These diseases or illnesses can develop due to exposure to hazardous substances at work, and can be a cause for claiming disability benefits.[1]
