Maropitant (Cerenia (US)), used as maropitant citrate (USAN), is a neurokinin (NK1) receptor antagonist, which was developed by Pfizer Animal Health specifically for the treatment of motion sickness and vomiting in dogs. It has not been approved by the FDA for use in any animal except dogs.[citation needed] It was approved for use on February 2007.
