CP-94,253 is a drug which acts as a potent and selective serotonin 5-HT1B receptor agonist, with approximately 25x and 40x selectivity over the closely related 5-HT1D and 5-HT1A receptors.[1] It has a range of behavioural effects in animal studies, including promoting wakefulness by increasing dopamine release in the brain,[2][3] reducing food intake and promoting satiety,[4][5][6] enhancing the reinforcing effects of cocaine,[7][8] and possible antidepressant effects.[9]
